appreciate your surroundings - vol I

The side project is a creative community with the aim to help as many people as possible with their side projects. The initial Covid-19 lockdown in March led to the side project’s latest venture - the inside project. It was an online exhibition urging creatives everywhere to use their time in lockdown to make something great.

Overview:

The things that are around you are the easiest to take for granted. There's something about being beside the sea that always surprises me. It reminds you how small you, your worries, and your problems are. I think we all need to be reminded of that from time to time. After two weeks of lockdown, my creativity began to dwindle and I started to feel stale. It was then I decided that I would go for a walk every day within my 2km radius and not return until I had taken a photo that I was happy with. Some days it would take minutes and others it would take hours. What I quickly realised was that it wasn't how many likes the photo got on Instagram that made me happy but rather the pursuit of what I thought to be the perfect photo each day. Isolation is hard for everyone so all that I can say is go outside and appreciate your surroundings.
